Britain’s Paralympic bound archers have sent out a warning to their Beijing rivals with some strong performances at the Stoke Mandeville Grand Prix event.
John Cavanagh, John Stubbs, Danielle Brown and Kay Lucas all won gold medals, with Kay and Danielle both picking up silvers too. Pippa Britton added to the medal tally with a bronze.
Danielle won gold in the double 720 event, and did it in style – shooting a yet to be ratified new world record. She then took her silver in the head-2-head round. Kay won silver in the double 720 round of her event, and then stormed to the gold medal in the head-2-heads. Pippa took third place in the double 720.
John Cavanagh took his gold medal in the head to head round, and he too set a yet to be ratified new world record with a 114 12-arrow pass. John Stubbs won gold in the double 720 round, and then further asserted his domination with another gold, in the head-to-heads.
“It was a great effort against very strong competition, and bodes well for Beijing,†said delighted GB Paralympic coach Tim Hazell. “This was the perfect pre-Beijing test, and everyone responded superbly.â€
